"Pseudo-MPEC" for 2013-070B = UX29E26 = Chang'e 3 booster

You can click here for TLEs (Two-Line Elements) for this object. Elements are available on a day-by-day basis. Near-term, most of the error in the TLEs comes from the fact that the underlying satellite motion model is intended for lower-orbiting objects. After a few months, though, most of the error comes from the ephemeris uncertainties stated below, which increase pretty drastically with time; and by the fact that space junk usually moves in slightly non-predictable ways, due to the effects of solar radiation pressure, Yarkovsky, and YORP forces, and (in some cases) leakage of leftover rocket fuel.
As shown in the lunar flyby orbital elements, this object passed close to the moon at 11:16 UT on December 6. The Chang'e 3 lunar exploration mission, according to Wikipedia, entered lunar orbit an hour earlier, at 09:53 UT.
With the current arc, we can also see that the object had a perigee at 17:58 UT (plus or minus about ten minutes) on December 1, right around the actual launch time of the Chang'e 3 mission. The computed perigee distance is 6650 +/- 10 km from the center of the earth, or about 300 km above the surface of the earth.
Jost Jahn, who gathered the (C95) data, says: "It has a large amplitude of >3 mag (invisible at minimum). The period is about 647+/-20s or a multiple of this." He suggests that it looks as if there are two maxima and two minima in the lightcurve, which would probably mean the period is actually about 21 minutes. He has posted a time-lapse video showing the booster.
On 2013 December 26, when this object reappeared on NEOCP, Patrick Wiggins posted these comments about its light curve and a link to a video.
