Re: [guide-user] Re: Copying Guide from machine to machine- was Guide9 and Win7

Hello all,
It would seem to me that I should do two things here.
First: a while back, I revised Guide so that if it couldn't find an absolutely
necessary file, it would give you a message such as "couldn't open xxx.yyy" instead
of gracelessly crashing. It would be simple enough to add to this message something
like "file does not exist" or "file is read-only" or "don't have permission to
access it" and so forth. The latter message would have been an immediate tip-off
that it was an administrator vs. normal user issue.
Second: I think I'll re-install Guide in a path with spaces, and see what breaks
over the course of normal use. Andrew is correct in implying that the use of spaces
in paths is an instrument of Satan. I must confess that I avoid it by such strong
habit that it never occurred to me to try it. But I'm sure that at least some
people will do it, and there is no reason Guide shouldn't handle it gracefully.
