Hmmmm. This is an interesting one.
The following all work for me:
| GoTo | object name | TYC 621 641
| GoTo | object name | GSC 621 641
| GoTo | Star | Guide Star Catalog | 621 641
This aligns with what I would expect to work. I do agree it would be nice if Guide was less sensitive to spaces in the designations, but it’s not something I can’t live with.
Note: NONE of my ‘GSC’ options are enabled in User datasets. I am using the latest Guide.exe
Kind Regards/Viele Grüße,
Grant

Subject: [guide-user] How to find TYC star by number?
Hello,
this seems to be an old (from 2003) problem but arose again:
For occultations by minor planets the occulted star is mostly given by its TYC
number. I know that this number is mostly identical with the GSC number. But
whatever I use as input,
| GoTo | object name | TYC 621 641
| GoTo | object name | TYC621641
| GoTo | object name | GSC621641
| GoTo | object name | GSC 621 641
| GoTo | Star | Guide Star Catalog | GSC 621 641
| GoTo | Star | Guide Star Catalog | 621 641
| GoTo | Star | Guide Star Catalog | 621641
the result is always the same: "Not a valid object".
In User data sets the "GSC-2.2 data (as stars)" are switched on and the last 4
digits are shown when "GSC numbers on" is set in Star display.
Is there a trick to find a star by its TYC number?
Clear skies
Bernd
