In startup.mar look for line 26, which should say something like:

26 ap dia 0.000000 xxx.000000

where xxx is the aperture circle diameter in degrees. Just edit it to be
something like

26 ap dia 0.000000 4.000000

then start Guide, right-click on the (4 degree) circle, and use the
resulting dialogue box to turn it off.
