Re: [guide-user] Re: Help guide the installation of OS 9.0 on 64bits windos 8

I believe that the downloaded setup32.exe is for guide8 to install on
Vista and Win7. I have install guide9 on Win8 from the dvd without
problem. Use the setup on the dvd and follow direction.

AS for the toolbar, one need to mod a key in the registry to allow the
toolbar to display properly in Win8.

select application "run" and type in - regedit

find - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

in the list, find - c:\guide9\guide9.exe - (maybe a different folder for
you) and modify key to read - DISABLETHEMES -.
if key is not there, right mouse click in the right panel where the list
should be simply add it and set value - DISABLETHEMES -.

This change or addition will display the toolbar in Win8 without the
space between toolbar buttons.

In Win7, this preference is selected in the guide9 icon properties under
compatibility - Disable Visual Themes -.

All of the above registry modifications are at your own risk. It is not
difficult to do but simply be careful or seek someone that knows how, if
needed.
