sounds like you're looking in the wrong place. Under the Display menu,
you have a "Data shown..." item. This brings up a dialog with a table
of objects and settings, and among these are planets.

But, if you want to set more options for planets, simply find a planet
on the map, right click it and press the Display button in the small
dialog.
