It is a *great* benefit when you look beyond just viewing images. When you
have multiple applications open, a wide-screen aspect monitor is great
because with today's high video resolutions, you can have multiple windows
open simultaneously and see at least two at a time. I routinely have Maxim,
PHD, and my planetarium program all open and all visible at the same time.
It makes switching back and forth through the open Windows a non-issue - you
can see it all at once.



Those are the same arguments for using multiple monitors as well. At work
and at home I use a second widescreen monitor in addition to my laptop's
widescreen LCD.

That's my thinking Tim. My eyepieces aren't 16:9. My camera isn't 16:9. Just
can't think of how 16:9 would benefit the observatory application.

screen height. I suspect that the wide aspect ratios are for movie viewing.
Anyone have a good word to say about them? Or should I run, not walk, to
grab up one of the last of the 4:5 aspect ratio monitors?
