Bill, I forgot to comment on this bit. I frequently find that clicking
on an object, particularly a line such as these, does not recognise the
object but instead picks a nearby star. I have usually found that even
clicking on the letters M42 does not recognise M42 but instead selects
M43 and then a sequence of stars at increasing distance from the clicked
object.
