Guide 9 under Wine installation

I'm having problems installing Guide 9 under Wine. I place the Guide 9 DVD in the drive, open a terminal window, change directory to the DVD (in my case /media/Guide9) and type wine setup.exe. I get the language dialog box, English is selected, I click ok, and then another tiny box appears which says "Guide S..." (literally...the font is too big to read whatever else comes up) and has one button marked OK. I click on the OK and then nothing happens. If I look in my virtual C: drive there is an empty directory called guide9. I've also tried right clicking on the setup.exe icon and opening with "Wine Windows Program Loader" and the same thing happens. If I try running "wine setup16.exe" I also get a (smaller) language dialog box. I click on English, and then another small box appears entitled "Setup" and saying "INSTALLATION FAILURE" with an "OK" button. I think the DVD is fine...Guide 9 installed on a Windows box without any problems.
I'm running Linux Mint 12 and have Wine 1.3 installed. (I believe it's from the Ubuntu repository and was installed by the "wine" meta-package.)
I saw on the Project Pluto site that an alternate installer was used to install Guide 8 under wine. Is there one for Guide 9? (I tried using the alternate Guide 8 installer with the Guide 9 DVD and it didn't work either.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My apologies if I'm missing something obvious--I'm new to Wine and don't know if the problem is with Guide or with my Wine configuration or both.
Thanks,
George
