I had both G8 and G9 installed on my C: drive so I could open the
files in both and compare. G8 runs beautifully, G9 will absolutely
not run the million_placenames or the impact_craters. (I never ran
both versions at once.) I did copy the "files" directory into
G9. There seems to be a difference between the files
directories. The size is the same on both,
87.8 MB. The dates are different: 11/26/11 10:54 in G9, 8/16/11
19:16 in G8.
I have installed and un-installed both G8 and G9 four times trying
various combinations. The only thing I found was the different dates
mentioned above.

It probably seems to observers that I'm making a big fuss over a
minor item. Some of you know I can't observe any more, the only
thing I can do in astronomy is historical research. For the past
seven years, I'm on oxygen 24/7. If you check out the
million_placenames you will find out is showing alternate names for
modern names. Try Anyang, China. If it works for others, the
problem is at my end. I may have to go back to using Guide 8.
I apologize for the personal stuff. I just wanted to explain why
this is important to me, although probably to no one else.
