I googled and found a german wikipedia entry for AVS (Address Verification
System). And it states, that AVS is only available for MC and VISA cards that
were issued in the United States. And maybe it has something to do with the house
number and street name. In Germany the street name is followed by the house
number. In the US it's vice versa.
