Question about FindOrbit

Roger Curry Oct 1 5:50 AM

Hi, Bill,

I told a friend in Bolivia about FindOrbit. He is interested in orbital
mechanics and would like to use it to find orbits of the asteroids he
observes from their positions at given dates and times.

Since I thought there might be a language problem, I decided to
try the program out and try to get proficient using it. I used Guide
to get the approx RA and Dec of Jupiter at the same time on
July 1, 5, and 9. I opened the file "example" in Note Pad and
followed the same tablular pattern. I left the field after the
declination, which I believe would contain the visual magnitude.

I then saved this file as "example2" but could not get Find Orbit to
open it. (It opened it but said no elements were loaded).

How do you enter data that is not alread in the
example file? Sorry if I am missing something obvious.

TIA.

Roger
