I had a similar problem earlier today except that my Windows 7 computer downloaded the comet and asteroid data without problem while Guide 8 aborted on my Windows XP computer. The problem disappeared just as mysteriously as it appeared. I can now download the files on either computer. I am wondering if there was a problem with the source file which was later corrected.

I am running the 16 August 2011 version of Guide 8 on both computers.
