Old User, new to adding WDS

I have been using Guide for several years. But, I have never understood exactly how Guide handles files. As a result, I don't know how to do stuff like install the current WDS. If there an "Idiots Guide to Guide" aka the "Missing Manual to Guide"?

No blame implied, Guide is both powerful and cheap by current standards and is better than products costing 3X as much. So, that means I do have to do some work, which I do not mind.

Example of my lack of knowledge. When you download the current WDS, as per instruction at Project Pluto, you get a tabular download to the WDS catalog that you can copy and transfer to a txt file. When you download the zip file into the Guide directory see the wds_new.tdf which has code including:

file!:wds\wds_curn.dat
file wds_out.txt
title wds(current)

OK, I think "file!" refers to a CD, but I downloaded a WWW txt file. Should I have named it "wds_out.txt"?
Where does Guide expect the file "wds_out.txt" to be found?

How does this integrate with "wds_curn.dat"? In fact, where is wds_curn.dat? Was I supposed to get it somewhere? Convert my little WWW USNO taxa file to a *.dat file? If so, how?

What goes in the folder "WDS" that I see in guide and which now includes WDS2001? A single wds_cur.dat file? Back to where this files might come from and how to convert something I have to *.dat

Thanks for the help,

Ed
