Extended keyboards: more hotkeys in Guide

Bill J Gray Sep 27, 2011

Hello all,

I've been using a keyboard with a line of buttons across the top such
as "back", "forward", "favorites", "previous track", and so on. It's
occurred to me that these ought to be available to Guide. For example,
it's nice to be able to hit Back and go to the previous chart, or to
hit "previous track" and have animation start going backward.

It turns out that this can be done without actually having to revise
Guide. There is a very easy, just-download-a-file method (which resets
all hotkeys back to their defaults), plus a slightly more complicated
method you can use if you've set up a lot of hotkeys and want to keep
them the way they are. Details are at

http://www.projectpluto.com/hotkeys.htm#extra_keys

Once you've done this, you can then use Shortcuts... Toolbar to assign
more hotkeys as desired.

Hope this is useful to someone. I'm not entirely sure just how common
this sort of keyboard is.
