'In-testing' update is now 'official'

Bill J Gray Sep 6, 2011

Hello all,

As the subject line indicates, I've just made the 'in-testing'
update the 'official' one. This simply reflects the fact that after
a few weeks of use, the current software appears to be stable and
well suited for all users.

If you click on Help... About Guide and see that you're running the
2011 August 16 version, then you can ignore this message. Otherwise,
I recommend going to

http://www.projectpluto.com/update8.htm

and getting the current version.

Probably the strongest argument for doing so is that a couple of
persistent bugs have been zapped in this version. One caused crashes
if you shut down your computer with Guide still running. The other
caused trouble if you had more than one instance of Guide running at
the same time.

There are some other, smaller improvements as well... including
some really small ones, such as getting Guide to be able to download
artificial satellite elements when run in Wine and similar "trivia".
But the greater stability of the program is what I expect most people
will notice.
