It looks as if this system is best controlled (maybe only
controllable) through an ASCOM driver. There is some description
of that driver at

and it sounds as if even if the scope would respond directly
to Meade or Celestron commands over a serial port (no mention is
made of such a capability), the ASCOM driver for this scope would
be a better way to go anyway.

You're right, by the way, that this does sound like a really
good system that may get a lot of use.
