Update posted

Hello all,

I've posted a "testing" update at

http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm

Despite the "testing" name, I'd really recommend upgrading to
this version, for several reasons. As is described at the above
page, it includes some important bug fixes. In particular, many
on this list noticed problems with Guide getting very confused (and
sometimes corrupted) when running multiple instances of the program.
Also, you could see problems if you shut the computer down with
Guide still running; this could leave you with a zero-byte
'startup.mar' file. These problems are fixed.

Most recently, I added some logging of telescope activity, for
debugging/support purposes. Getting telescope control to work
properly has become a major nuisance, because it appears as if no
two scopes actually work the same way. And obviously, I can't have
one of every type of scope for testing purposes. So it's very rare
that I can replicate the errors people report. The logging code
will let me see exactly what data is being passed between telescope
and Guide, and therefore figure out and fix problems more quickly
and with less tearing of hair. At least, such is my hope!

I'd very much like to hear any comments and/or bug reports.

Thanks! -- Bill
