I think I did something quite odd here. You now have to download
that same 'iii.dat' file, but rename it to 'gcvs_cat.dat'.

My apologies for this. I don't know why I did that... probably I
wanted to change it to a name that could be recognized later, instead
of wondering "what's this iii.dat thing?"

In checking all this out, I downloaded the current GCVS file and
I see that the format has been changed yet again. You may see some
misaligned data in 'more info'. (But finding a variable star should
still work.)
