I had a similar case: With WIN XP prof. Guide 8 crashed after start with MFC
error. In my case the MPCORB.DAT file was corrupt. Deleted it and Guide 8 worked
fine (without MPC minor planets). Unzipping it again and Guide 8 runs fine again
with all MPs.
