Lawrence,
I am not sure, but it can't be a coincidence that the previous supported
update (updates page) was June 2008, whereas the one that was just released
(in the last month) is now July 2010, at least according to
http://www.projectpluto.com/hist_idx.htm. Before that was released, we had
to use a different pointer to get the interim updates
(
http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm). Of course now the "new" page points
to the "update" page.
Is it possible that the pointer on the updates page still points to the
older image? Bill any other ideas?
Meanwhile, if you still have the Guide8.zip file that updated your "usual"
laptop, you might try copying it to your "obs" laptop, then rerun the
update...

Subject: [guide-user] Guide versions
A silly problem has struck me! I am trying to update Guide on my observatory
computer. This follow my discovery last night that comet 103P was shown in a
different place on that laptop than on my main domestic laptop. I checked
versions: obs laptop 2 June 2008 (!) and usual laptop 12 July. I went to the
latest link on the web site, downloaded the zip file and opened it into
Guide on
the obs laptop. On running the program...... 2 June 2008! And of course it
goes
into popup mode when I try to update comet files........
What have I done wrong?
