Here what might be the problem. Do you use UCAC3? If you do, set the
field to "0 to 0.1" for UCAC3 and see if the star names remains until a
higher level. I bet it does. Common names are shown only for the tycho
catalog therefore when the UCAC3 are on the names are not displayed.

If you have set "0 to 1.5" for UCAC3, names will stop to show after
level 7 (2 degrees), 8 being 1.0 degree UCAC3 showing.
