Subject: [guide-user] Re: Asteroid display dialog(ue) crash fix/workaround
Hello all,
My thanks to Don Ellington, who provided me with access
to his Guide files. I loaded his 'startup.mar', so I could
replicate what he was seeing, and lo and behold, I was able
to get the same crash.
It occurs if 'Use MPCORB' is checked, and the 'Show all
asteroids' box is _not_ checked, and 'Show first' is set to
zero. This corresponds to a roundabout way of turning asteroids
off, and really shouldn't happen. I will fix this. In the
meantime, things should work if you go into that dialog and
either
-- don't use MPCORB (i.e., use Guide's built-in asteroid
orbital elements);
-- or leave 'Show all asteroids' checked (in which case Guide
will show every asteroid it knows about, which admittedly can
be kinda slow);
-- or set "Show First" to show a certain number of asteroids
that isn't zero.
So. I _will_ fix this. I also need to fix another problem
I've just run into: with 'Use MPCORB' _not_ checked, asteroids
aren't showing up!
