Thoughts for improvement/demo version
Bill J. Gray Jul 24, 2000
Hi folks,
Riccardo, I do have some good news on two items. The current
version of Guide on the Web site does give a list of camera types,
and you can select one of these plus a focal length. And the Losmandy
setting circles are essentially Sky Commander circles with a different
name on the box; just hook them up and use them as if they were SC
circles, and you ought to be in business.
That leaves the 'backing up'/'undo' option... long on my list of
things I'd like to try to do. I may at least provide a limited sort
of undo (one where you can 'undo' about 99% of activities).
Jari, I haven't really thought that one through yet, but it's
indeed possible that I could have a "demo" Guide. I shy from this now
for only one reason: a big strength of Guide is the fact that it has
such an immense amount of information behind it. I fear that people
might look at an 11 MByte demo, with only some brighter stars and
objects, and think, "Huh... _that's_ not very impressive."
Still, I may be able to weasel around this problem if I can
perhaps provide reasonably immense amounts of data for a small part
of the sky (an approach I've seen other demos use.)
