There's a reason for using GOTO TDF with the latest versions of WDS, it's called not all the names being in DOUBLE.NAM.

I'm going to do the /B/ thing in a little while. You can then likely pick the best bones out of it and what could well happen is you could have an option where anyone, anytime, could download and upgrade any of wds, gcvs, sb9 and even aavso vsx in a fully automated way, coz VizieR has started storing these, and some other perpetually updating catalogues, in a live way. You can kind of do that now with some of them, but this'd be more so.

It'd be like downloading mpcorb and just using it. The only problem is, gee whizz, they always need sorting on RA (they're usually just big enough to slow things down, otherwise), but otherwise they're (remarkably) fixed standard and fixed format files and every month the latest amended and appended versions get remote fetched from their host servers at the responsible institude and CDSed up a bit with tweaks.

Given a tdf dedicated to 'em it'd just be like mpcorb, except the ra sort problem, and could almost be a menu link (although download via a more traditional download manager might be safer, as biggest file will be about 15 Mb). But sorting would be the only thing needed, no patching in the blank co-ords with add_loc.exe is needed anymore, CDS does that with WDS anyway.
