Hi folks,

Those wishing to be on the cutting edge (I hope not
"bleeding"!) can try the current "in-testing" version at

As described therein, I've posted an update that allows
one to display UCAC-3 data in two different ways: either by
grabbing chunks of data from VizieR, or by displaying the
files to be supplied by USNO.

At present, since the DVDs have yet to be distributed
(and presumably will take a week or several weeks), only the
first is of much consequence.

Once you have the update unZIPped into your Guide folder,
you should be able to zoom in on a desired area, then use
Extras... Get Star Catalog Data... Get UCAC-3 data. After a
bit of downloading, the UCAC-3 data for that area ought to
appear on-screen.

(Also, one can go into Settings... Toolbar, and enable
a toolbar button and/or hotkey to cause Guide to do this sort
of downloading.)

For the nonce, this is the only new feature one can use.
In a bit, when the data is shipped on DVD, you should be
able to display that, too, using this update.
