Okay, I may have missed a coupla basics out.

No data will show until you've pressed the download button.

There's probably a limit in Guide to stop you downloading too wide a field. VizieR certainly won't accept anything over ten degrees.

So, start Guide. Close it down and restart, that's often a good idea when changing things in Guide. Start Guide, zoom into a LEVEL where the field width is about one degree or less, don't want to download too much. Press the UCAC3 button on the toolbar at top of Guide.

Download dialogue should pop up.

When it's complete start right clicking on likely looking stars and press More Info until one has a name starting "3UCAC".

You may just be missing this point. If you've got UCAC2 installed you'll already have a star of very similar magnitude and almost the exact same position already plotted up in Guide 8, so you've to keep clicking the NEXT button to move on to the next dataset.

ie the star is there, but you ain't seeing it because it is hidden by others.

If you got to the yahoo files I've also included a zip file, you can download that as a zip file and take the .tdf from it, I'll try and send you a copy separately via attachment too. This should stop this .txt problem or any cut and paste issue.

Again, after that, if it still doesn't work, as it seems Bill's already working on this, better to wait for his more straightforward updates.

Cheers
