It's a bit weird, actually, the default vizier return via Guide included red mags and J and K mags, like the default vizier display, and proper motions, but unlike the default vizier display didn't include the RA and Dec! How d'ya plot that? It's tricky sometimes is ascii download from vizier with all the html code it gets in it.

So I had to do the -out.all=1 route and download every column per entry, which is a bit redundant.

So any improvement of any kind is bound to be good.

I've totally forgotten the vizier http get / ASU codings, it seems, and couldn't remember how to selectively return data in a chosen fields way.


Incidentally, I've seen the UCAC peeps talk about serving ucac images somewhere, maybe an aas abstract or somewhere. That'd be interesting. They already serve usno b1.0 and the dreaded nomad via the usno nofs ppm server, so they've got an inhand server and technology and software for serving images and catalogue data direct. They also have vo hookage/registry servage as well, so we'll see.
