Re: Problem with Vista installation

rcurryastro Aug 27, 2009

Hi, Bill,

Running Guide with Disk 1 in CD drive did not solve the missing bright star problem, but I went ahead and uninstalled Guide and reinstalled it using the new "setup32.exe" and it installed correctly. The bright star problem is no longer a problem.

Is there any fix for the blank white screen that you get when opening Guide in Vista? It is not a real problem since it will correct itself if I enter 2 and get a widefield starfield. Just curious if others had mentioned this little problem.

Thanks for the help.

I copied the Guide 8 installation from my netbook to the Vista desktop and have discovered that bright stars disappear at higher levels (smaller FOV's). I was trying to simulate the occultation of 28 Sgr by Saturn on July 3, 1989. At low levels, e.g. level 2, the symbol for Saturn appears right beside 28 Sgr but when I zoom in, 28 Sgr disappears.
