That's the default, yes: the names vanish as you zoom in. However,
whilst in that 'Display' dialog, you can set the 'show at' values to be
whatever fields of view you desire.

You can also go into the Overlays menu, and select "Toggle Overlay
On/Off". (Which is misleading. It once was true that all you could do
in this option was to toggle overlays, but now, you can change most
of their display characteristics. I'll rename it something like "Overlay
Display".)

Anyway. Within the "Toggle" menu, you can select constellation labels
and get the corresponding Display dialog, without needing to have any
constellation label on-screen at the time.
