I suspect that ASCOM syncing just isn't implemented in Guide. It has never worked for me so my setup (EQ6 with EQMod) includes StarCalc only to give me syncing. It works like a charm in practice but clutters my two screens more than I would like.

Better ASCOM support in Guide would be right at the top of my wish list.
