Most likely cause is that you need the update file. Go to

http://www.projectpluto.com/update8.htm

and you'll see links to get the current version.

I'd recommend doing this anyway, since the program has improved
quite a bit since the "initial" Guide 8.0. But I'd especially
recommend it because one thing that cropped up shortly after the
first run of Guide 8.0 disks was an issue with the Install to Hard
Drive dialog. Actually, two issues: it sometimes required a
double-click to toggle an installation section, and in some cases,
you'd do all that and it _still_ wouldn't install to the hard drive.

I've not heard of any issues with installing to the hard drive
using the current update. (The current update also appears to fix
most, and maybe all, Vista-related issues.)
