I already had the LEDA database from the second CD loaded, but appartently it's not the FULL catalog, or this one was just missed?

The object I was after is located at

08 20 28.740

+70 49 29.466

It is located 1.2' NW of LEDA 86836.  If you do a DSS overlay, you can see it in the image.

Owen identified it as LEDA 2738730

Guide does not id this galaxy.  If you enter "Go to", "Object name", and enter "LEDA 2738730", you get "Not a valid object".

thanks!

Hi Stuart,

PGC and LEDA aren't quite the same thing.

The first Guide disk has the smaller PGC catalog; the second
disk has the million-galaxy catalog. (Though some have suggested
to me that they think it's a million objects, most but not all of
which are galaxies.)

If you put the second Guide disk into the CD-ROM, you can use
Extras... Toggle User-Added Datasets, then turn the "LEDA Million
Galaxies" dataset on.

As has been mentioned elsewhere, the Mitchell catalogue is still
proprietary, which has greatly limited its use anywhere except in
Megastar.
