I am experiencing the same issues as Dr. Sherrod, multiple object
names and designators (X). I wrote to Bill offline about this last
year and was told I should update Guide with his latest patch, (2 Jun
2008) New "asteroid options" dialog/some menu rearrangement, and also
I could download another file at;
http://www.projectpluto.com/comets.dat which should have corrected my
problem.

The issue has returned and after I read Alan Cahill's suggestion I
revisited the latter file link to compare to mine. Both report 300
lines of objects but unless I am not understanding things there are a
number of objects listed twice, same numbers all the way across.

I always download Softo2Cmt and Soft02Unusual from the MPC site prior
to an observing session. I then import these files into Guide using
Extras > Asteroid options > Add MPC comets/asteroids > Add MPC
asteroids/comets (last link in the Guide Help screen).

I hope my comments have not clouded Dr. Sherrod's issue but I would
also welcome a fix.
