The easy way would be, rather than re-installing, to copy your Guide directory from your laptop across to your new drive using a flash drive or portable hard drive.That way you keep all your personal settings, locations etc. plus whatever downloads you had previously.

A few days ago I had a hard drive crash and needed to replace my old
one with a new one. When I installed Guide 8 once again I noticed that
the CMC-14 icon in my toolbar was not there like on my laptop. I went
to the update page and downloaded the latest update for Guide 8 and
this icon is still not there. I remember having to download or update
but I dont remember how or where to find this update. Thank You..
