Hi all,
when observing I use a local webpage to list all objects I am going
to look at. For every object I keep links that point to a local .bat
file that looks as follows:
---------------------------------
c:
cd ../../../../../../../../
cd GUIDE8
guide8.exe -om31
---------------------------------
Clicking on those links starts the (dedicated) .bat file and I get
the Guide window positioned on this very object. This is really an
excellent feature of Guide and it saves me a lot of time.
Check it out ?

(pls click on yellow ID-inks)
What I'd really love to have though is a simple but generalized
positioning option (named 'x' or whatever) like e.g.
---------------------------------
guide8.exe -x125959+900000
guide8.exe -xAAAAAA+DDDDDD
---------------------------------
stating that guide should start up at some artifical position
Alpha=<AAAAAA> and Delta=<+DDDDDD> (with all other setting taken over
from last startup). This would allow free + easy positioning with any
coordinates I already have. So I am no longer restricted to Messier,
ngc, ic and ugc stuff only.
I know there are markup files, but would this be much more lean +
relatively cheap in terms of code change efforts ?
Thanks for any comments.
Best wishes,
Peter
