I use Guide under Vista without any problems.

Most issue are related to setup.

In Guide icon disable "Themes" to fix the tool bar issue.

Make sure you have the right to modify or create files in the Guide
folder. Administrator with the proper rights can fix the issue, if you
are modify in the Guide folder icon security. If you don't, files will
not be created. Failure to have these rights will cause Guide to fail
after an update.

Most of the issues are setup issues. Vista contains the same codes used
in XP. A lot of extra has been added for security reasons and ease of
use which are where issues are often encountered. By not setting up the
program properly for the reasons stated will cause Vista to protect the
software to avoid exposing itself to what it perceive as a possible
security threat.
