Re: Comet Data updates in Guide?

Jeff Lowrey May 24, 2008

Hi again,

Problem found and fixed! Another installation of Guide did not show
the same cometary position problem and that gave me the hint that I
had better think more deeply about how I had Guide set up.

A few weeks ago I had been "playing" - trying to simulate an "orrery"
view of the solar system. To do so I had moved my location to Sol and
had then set a 3AU offset. When I had finished playing I reset my
location correctly but forgot to fix the offset. Consequently I was
viewing the solar system, including the comets, from a point 3AU above
my location on earth. Changes one's perspective entirely! Nothing
nearby is where you expect it to be.

Sorry about the false alarm.

Regards to all.
Jeff
