Hi Kevin,
Best thing to do here is to right-click on the stars in
question.
When I zoomed in on Antares, I saw _four_ stars. Two
were from Tycho-2 (basically, one entry, but Guide recognizes
that it's an orbital binary, computes their separation/PA at
the current time, and plots them accordingly.) One was an
A2.0 star. And I got a fourth because I had turned the "new
GCVS" dataset on, and Antares happens to be a variable.
Turning off A2.0 and GCVS got me just the primary and
secondary from Tycho-2.
Next, out of curiosity, I turned off proper motion, as
described at
http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm#no_prop_motion
and started animating to see the orbital motion (what's
left over after proper motion is eliminated). It looks as
if this system is being viewed almost edge-on, and sometime
around the year 2147, there might be an interesting eclipse.
Anyway... most likely, your desktop has A2.0 or some other
dataset enabled. Guide isn't bright enough (yet) to recognize
all of these doppelgangers. (I _do_ have thoughts about having
a cross-indexing of sorts, one that would enable Guide to
recognize that such-and-such A2.0 star is also thus-and-such
GCVS and thus-and-such GSC star, then showing only one star...
and then showing all the comments from all the catalogs when
you right-click on that one star. It's a big job, though,
especially since I thought of it long _after_ putting the current
plotting routines together!)
