OK, it seems Guide does download the image but does not display it
until after a restart of the program!? The animation dialog does not
seem to be working however - flashes briefly the first time it is
invoked and then does not appear on top of the 'sky', however the add
trail etc. stuff does work as expected.

On the Tables sub-menu all work except Lunar Phase & Jupiter events.
Show eclipse does not seem to be to well either.

None of the above are serious, as I can always use either a virtual
machine or a real one if it is important!
