Hi Joe, Clay,
As far as I know, several people have been using this... in
fact, Clay, I thought you _were_ using it in Guide, but not
in Charon? Does anyone else have comments on this?
I'd do the following:
Make sure you're using the current 'in-testing' update from
the Web site, at
http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm
(Clay, I know you're already using this; I just don't know if
Joe has gotten that update. The update contains a couple of small
fixes that should make B1.0 display a little more bullet-proof.)
Go to Extras... Toggle User-Added Datasets, and look for
"USNO B1.0 (from hard drive)". Make sure that it's turned On.
Look at the "Show at:" values. By default, B1.0 data is only
shown at fields of view smaller than one degree; it could take
a long time to draw all the B1.0 stars in a crowded two-degree
field of view. If it's important to you to have those stars at
a wide field, and you're willing to wait, play around with
the upper "Show at" value.
Unless you're really zoomed in, the difference between a
field with B1.0 stars and one without may be not much. Go to
a field of view that's definitely in the "Show at" range.
Try right-clicking on some stars. If you see B1.0 data, then
it's on.
If that fails, something strange is going on. Your Guide
folder should have a file called 'usno_b1.txt'. It's a temporary
plain-text file containing the data for the B1.0 stars in the
current field of view. Let me know if that's not showing up,
even when you're in a part of the sky and at a field of view
where B1.0 stars ought to be showing up.
