Re: [guide-user] Update posted/Website access/satellite filtering

Bill J Gray Mar 12, 2008

Hi folks,

I've just updated the update at

http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm

This includes the various fixes discussed on this list: printing
shouldn't crash, the program should draw the first chart correctly
under Vista (and everything else), asteroids and comets should
be shown in the correct colors, and planet trails with steps
greater than one day should be labelled at even multiples from the
start of the trail.

I'm quite certain that the last two problems are solved, and
reasonably sure that the printing and Vista problems are solved.
But feedback would be appreciated.

Anyone have other bugs to report?

WEBSITE ACCESS:

I have no idea as to what's going on here, either with Alan
Cahill's troubles getting past Norton Internet Security 2008
or Alfredo Caronia's problems with accessing the site. Anyone
else running into trouble and/or found solutions to such trouble?

SATELLITE FILTERING:

Follow-up to my previous post: once this update is "finalized"
and I return to adding features, I should also make it possible to
use filters such as

name="iss"
norad>30000 & norad < 30100
intl=69046F | intl=83020D

to have only the ISS, or only objects with NORAD IDs between
30000 and 31000, or only the two objects with international IDs
1969-046F and 1983-020D displayed. Similarly, with asteroids,
being able to say

name="1997 XF11"

to ensure that only that asteroid is shown, would be useful.
I feel a little silly that I didn't do that long ago... say,
back when I added asteroid filtering in the first place!
