Borrowing heavily from AAVSO Alert 362
http://www.aavso.org/publications/alerts/alert362.shtml
(and likely also fully noted in IAUC 8895) the following can be added
to galnovae.dat in the Guide directory, for those that use it, cut and
pasted as one single long line into a copy in a text editor
N Pup 2007 2007 08 16 17.99 -34 15 25.0 7.0
v 22? j N: A.J.S.Pereira
Insert it in a sorted on RA place in the data file and use the data
file's current entries to ensure columns lined up.
The alert notes a red deespky survey plate image star need plate limit.
Using Guide 8 and downloading GSC2.3.2 data via a toolbar button
VizieR interrogation from the new/beta test Guide 8 version
download.txt facility the following details for this star can be
found, presented here by being cut and pasted from Guide More Info
help screens ;^)
GSC2.3.2 S65B052556
RA 124.07480 Dec -34.25699 deg
Epoch 1977.07
RA 2000 8h16m17.95s
Dec2000 -34 15' 25.1"
Jmag : 21.65
"Jmag" is the mag on J emulsion Schmidt camera survey plates, ie blue
plates.
So, blue mag is about 22 (despite the quoted precision in GSC2.3.2,
near the plate limit as this is the mag could be up to two mags, at
least, out).
Note that this is around half an arcsecond from the Table Mountain
quoted position.
Cheers
John
