Hi Bill (and the others),
today I wanted to add my new camera to the "ccds.nam"-file.
It's one of those tremendous popular
firewire-camera's from "The Imaging Source", the DMK 31BF03.
At first, it looked rather easy: all I need is to
insert the new camera, it's chip (Sony's
ICX204AL), pixel-size (4.65 µm) and number of pixels (1024*768).
So the added line looks like:
"DMK 31BF03 ICX204AL 4.65 4.65 1024 768 51"
But then I was wondering: pixel-size multiplied
by number of pixels is not equal to chip-size.
There's some spacing between individual pixels.
Number of pixels x pixel-size would have given a chipsize of 4,76 x 3,57 mm.
Where as the actual chip-size is 5,80 x 4,92 mm. Quite a difference.
So instead of adding the actual pixel-size I
divided the chip-size by 1024 and 768, and added
this "calculated" of "pratical" pixel size to "ccds.nam".
So now the added line looks like:
"DMK 31BF03 ICX204AL 5.66 5.66 1024 768 51"
Now it makes me wonder how this was done for the
other camera's in the list? Or has this item been
discussed (in that case, sorry if I missed it ;-)).
