You're right, you can enter Stonehenge or Machu Picchu or
"Bowdoinham, Project Pluto Corporate Headquarters" into geonames.dat.
The '!' won't confuse anything.

The method you suggest for use of Delta-T will work (it's also
described at http://www.projectpluto.com/update7.htm#delta_t_def ).
Rather than using the # to turn it off, though, I'd change
DELTA_T=etc to ZELTA_T=etc. The method you suggest will work in
some cases, including the specific one you give. But if more
than one time span is given in the line, the other spans will
still be operational; the # will just clobber the first one.

Hmmm... eclipses in 3340 BCE? I think that would be a real
stretch for just about any program to justify! Even had Guide
confirmed the result, I'd have had doubts. The accuracy gets
quite marginal at such dates.
