Re: [guide-user] PicGoto

Hi Alan,

Almost all of the information I've been able to Google on PicGoto
is in Spanish, which I _barely_ understand. But at the Yahoogroup
for PicGoto, http://es.groups.yahoo.com/group/Picgotogroup/ ,
the description sounds as if it's a microcontroller-based device
for handling telescope stepper motors with equatorial mounts. If
I'm understanding it correctly, it sounds a bit like Mel Bartels'
AltAz system, with most of the "intelligence" off-loaded from the
computer to separate circuitry.

The above page mentions modules for control via the LX-200 command
set, which Guide has implemented since the Dark Ages of circa 1994.

Also mentioned at the above page is the ability to interface
via ASCOM, which the current update supports.

(Could someone who understands Spanish please check the above
page and verify that I'm not misleading Alan about all this? I'm
afraid the old joke -- a person who speaks three languages is
trilingual; a person who speaks two languages is bilingual; a
person who speaks one language is an American -- applies all too
well to me.)

Saludos, -- Bill
