Guide startup from HTML-Link (MS IE on WinXP) ?

Hi,

I have a Guide problem (on WinXP) that I cannot solve:

What I would like to do:
----------------------------------
I would like to startup Guide8 from a HTML-Link in MS
InternetExplorer (on WinXP), and get it automatically centered on
specific objects, exactly like you explained here:
http://www.projectpluto.com/random.htm#command_line
I have a (local) Webpage with object descriptions on them, and I
would simply like to jump (via html-link) into Guide and show the
object position + environment (only locally on my notebook, not
intended to work over the web, of course).

What I tried out:
------------------------
As a first step I tried this out with something simple. I can in fact
startup the DOS cmd window by clicking on this link in a html file:
<a href="C:/WINDOWS/system32/cmd.exe"> Run DOS box</a>
Clicking on it, I get a security check window if I really want to run
it. Saying yes I get the cmd window finally. OK.

Problem:
-------------
Now, with Guide the first problem is: I cannot start Guide from a
DOS window (cmd window) at all. I guess, this probably has to do with
the memory handling which is different in DOS and virtual-mem OSs
like WinXP. Typing
c:/GUIDE8/guide8.exe
in cmd window (in WinXP) leads to an error, stating that mem was
referenced at address 0x0000. Of course, trying the same with the
HTML-link feature also fails, too.

Questions:
----------------
Do you have any advice how I can get this working ?
And: Do .mar files still work in Guide as outlined in
http://www.projectpluto.com/mar_fmt.htm
or is this feature outdated ? (.mar files would help to tailor Guide
at startup even more than only positioning on the object...)

Thanks for any advice you could possible give me.

Best wishes,
Peter
