The same happen for me. I download the update and installe it. The same
problem occur. GUIDE crash.
I make the final decision to reisntall all from the begining with the new
update. Download a new MPCORB file and incorporate into GUIDE. And
finally, it works. ie don'nt crash when I turn on Use of MPCORB in Extras
menu.
The trouble is that I lost all my settings.
Does if I copy my last STARTUP.MAR file, I will recover all of them ?

Objet : RE: [guide-user] Changing Asteroids visib... --> solved by
reinstallation
Hi Bill,
now, i reinstalled Guide from CD and updated again the latest version
(2007-06-06) and Guide does _not_ crash.
Perhaps there is a registration problem (dll)?
Now, I have to do all the settings I made in past :-|

Subject: Re: [guide-user] Changing Asteroids visibility from No to another
value crashes GUIDE (MFC Appl. Error)
Hi Christian, Pierre,
As Denis mentioned, MPC did change the format of their MPCORB database.
If you've
not applied the current update from
http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm
then Guide won't show designations correctly, and 'Go to Asteroid' will
usually
fail. However, the program should _not_ crash, and objects should be
shown, even
if you've not updated the software lately.
Is the 'Use MPCORB' item in the Extras menu checked? Try turning this
off and
running on Guide's "built-in" asteroid elements; if that works, but use of
MPCORB
still fails, then it's actually an MPCORB problem.
I _would_ recommend using the latest version from the above URL,
though. Not only
will it fix the labelling and "go to asteroid" issues; as you'll see, it
should show
MPCORB objects quite a bit faster, and other bug fixes have been made. I
would also
recommend doing this because frequently, bizarre and unreproducible bugs go
away
when using updated software. Corrupted files get replaced by those from the
update,
so problems vanish most of the time when doing this. (If they don't,
please let me
know. The current update is supposed to be quite stable.)
