Sorry, yes, you're right; one can set the color for galaxies
and the other built-in TDF types in the manner you suggest. I
briefly thought one might be able to set a dashed or dotted style
for the galaxies with something like
type 7 # Type 7 = draw as ellipse
type C00ff00;s1;
...with the second line meaning "set color 00ff00, or pure green;
and line style 1, dashes." It doesn't work that way, though.
I could probably adjust ellipses quickly enough so that they follow
the 'style' setting. But I'd prefer a more general solution: one
where you can design a symbol and have it stretched and tilted to
follow the major axis, minor axis, and position angle of the galaxy
or other object, with styles preserved. I expect I'll wait and
implement this more complete solution, rather than just add in
a hack to allow dashed ellipses.
Thus, one could have (say) dust clouds shown as tilted dashed
rectangles, and barred galaxies drawn with a special symbol, and
so on. It could be quite useful, I think.
