Re: [guide-user] Update 06-06-2007 - data from Vizier,

Hi Stefano,

I'd not announced that "in-testing" update on-list, because
it involves some reasonably big changes. I thought I'd run it
past John Greaves (who is a gung-ho VizieR data kind of guy,
and he's digging out a problem or two in it), and Lawrence
Harris (because he can test the Vista related issues.) I
figured I'd get some feedback from them before mentioning it here.

This update also has improvements involving the use of apparent
coordinates of date, the Great Red Spot longitude, some new
Starlight XPress cameras, and a pretty small bug fix.

John reported that the new download buttons didn't actually
appear in the toolbar, and made a correction to the file
specifying how items are downloaded from VizieR. You can
click here to get the two files that have been fixed; after
that, the four new VizieR downloads should work, and you
should be able to add your own downloads:

Lawrence reports that the Vista problems (screen isn't drawn
at startup time, and the toolbar buttons have lots of space
between them) are still there. I have a thought for tackling
the first problem, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
I've not really tackled the second yet, except to do a bit of
on-line research as to what odd things Vista may be causing with
my "menu toolbar" (a toolbar consisting of buttons alongside the
menu, instead of underneath it.)

Reports of Vista problems are most welcome. I _think_ these
may occur whether the program is copied over from another
hard drive, or installed via 'setup.exe' or 'setup32.exe',
or whether the program was already installed on a machine that
got "upgraded" to Vista. Though I'm not sure even of that. I
know at least two people are seeing the blank Guide screen at
startup, and Lawrence has reported some additional problems,
and I assume more are lurking out there (such as the phase table
problem Lawrence just mentioned.)
